Amazon.com: Seagate Momentus XT 500 GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s 32 MB Cache 2.5 Inch Solid State Hybrid Drive ST95005620AS-Bare Drive: Electronics
Not quite an SSD but it has SSD, so overtime it puts most used files on the nand. With the benefit of having plenty of storage.
I myself got an SSD 120GB, but for those that need more space![]()

I have the 250GB version , good value for the money
Boot to desktop time was 45 sec with the standard 7200rpm hard drive
With the hybrid it was reduced to 35 sec
The Intel SSD is 25 sec -
Not so bad. I guess over time it improves though as it puts the most used files in nand. So maybe 30 sec now? lol
-
It took around one week to get to the 35 sec
No improvement on that time,so I bought a ssd lol -
are you using bootracer? sometimes i get 16 sec with my ssd ocz agility 2 120gb

Bootup? What's that?
FWIW: Since I started using toughbooks 6 years ago (starting with my CF-29), I've NEVER, N-E-V-E-R! Turned mine off.... Always just put it into standby....

Real life ,time from power on ,to where I can click on IE or whatever and use the laptop -
BootRacer - Test your Windows boot speed
it just times each boot up. not really a benchmark program.
