    Hello to the group!

I have a MKIV CF-48 that I've been using a PCMCIA Motorola 825G adapter in.

Under the mini pci cover there is an empty slot with two wires similar to what I've seen in my Dell and HP lappys. (Except my spare Intel 3945ABG is too small for this slot).

Are these WIFI antenna leads and was there ever an option to get built-in wireless with the CF-48?

If so what is a suitable G or N adapter that will go in that slot?

I see a lot of traffic concerning the CF-28 and CF-29 models but not much discussion on the CF-48 on this topic.

    Thanks in advance...

    S.

Unless somebody has made something new since I've last looked, you won't find an N adapter to fit in a Mini-PCI slot. Just Mini-PCIe.

But you can find A/B/G adapters that will work. You can get a cheap one ($15-20+shipping) which are pretty suitable cards, or you can go all out and get a high power Engenius card ($50+shipping).

Hit up eBay and search "Atheros mini-pci". You'll find a ton of cards on there.

Thanks to both Modly and 48user!

The 2915 looks like it will fit the bill.

Also special thanks to Modly for the CF-48 PDFs I found using Google today! :)

One additional question now that I think of it....

On my Dell D620 and my HP DV5000 there are three antenna connectors, a white, black (2.4 Ghz) and a gray one for the 5Ghz connection.

The two antenna leads in the CF-48 seem to be both gray colored. So I'm assuming this is before the color code was standardized? And are they both 2.4Ghz?

If I were to get one of the Engenius cards would the antennas in the CF-48 work with it? Or do I need to replace the antennas that are in there with different ones?

No..wait that's really three questions isn't it? (now four!)

some of the cards out there only work in certain brands. the 2 antennas in the 48 are in the base one ending by the pcmcia slots and the other ending at right front palm rest leading edge, i dont think main/aux matters either way. i have never needed to connect to A band(5ghz) so i don't know if it work with the 48 antennas, but being only 2 connectors on the cards i'm sure it does. were all happy to help.
