    Hi,

I want to reload my CF-18 again as the CD I have is not an OEM version. I've found a solution to make the CD accept the Panasonic OEM DOA key but I need the PID code off a genuine Panasonic CD. So, if you have one please PM me and I'll tell you where to look. Just want the licence # on the install to match the DOA key on the MS sticker on the back.

    Thanks,
    Andy

Doesn't anyone have an OEM copy of Xp Tablet ?

All I need is the PID code from the Setupp.ini file :(

Panasonic have a specific one and the generic OEM one won't work with a Panasonic DOA key.

    Cheers,
    Andy

Would the PID be the same from a cf-29 disc since it is panasonic?

You could just use the digits from the pana pid and add OEM on the end right?

The only cf-18 digitizer that I have , has no recovery cd's.
I loaded it with xp pro oem and added the wacom digitizer drivers.

    Thanks James,

It will be nice to use it in tablet format in my Gamber Johnson vehicle mount for GPS navigation.

I cannot find it on my restore disks. The format is much different then a standard win xp disk.

The version i have on my computer now i just used a dell disk then used microsoft key changer in windows to change it to the key on the bottom of my cf-29.

    Hi James,

Did your's install as Xp or Tablet Xp ? As I've read that unless you use a valid Tablet Xp DOA that matches the PID on the CD it'll only install as Xp even if you use a tablet Xp CD. It'll not ask for the second CD.

    Cheers,
    Andy

I dont have a cf-18 just a cf-29 so i dunno about the tablet thing. I have cf-29 restore disks but the way they are setup it does not have a normal file system like a win xp disk so i cannot see the setupini file.

Hopefully someone that has a cf-18 and tablet os loaded will come by and find it in there reg for ya.

    Well....

After spending a while messing around with the CF-18 running a patched version of Xp to get the tablet functionality working I decided to bin it and buy a new copy of Xp Tablet with a new licence. The patched version is too unstable and this is not a good idea when your relying on your TB for GPS mapping in the middle of the Canadian bush..... miles from any cell or radio communication. Ok we'll have maps & a compass but that sort of defeats the object of having a GPS system in your off-road truck.

So, in conclusion if your just running Xp on your machine and don't need the Tablet functionality then don't bother using the patch (that's widly found doing a google search)..... it's not worth it. If you do want to use your machine in tablet format (screen only), get yourself a set of recovery disks or buy a new copy of Xp Tablet with a new licence you'll be thankful you did. :)

    Cheers,
    Andy

dood! I donno how many times i've said this on here... tablet pc (and media center) are no more than an XP PRO skin. you can use and XP Pro OEM cd and once you put the tablet key in it will automatically determine that it is tablet edition and therefore it will ask for the 2nd cd. what you need is the 2nd cd for the TABLET functions... noone seems to understand this.

dood! Help me out here. I tried using an OEM XP Pro disk, (dell) and it never asks for a key. Being an oem disk, it just continues to load xp pro without the key so it never prompts for a key or the 2nd disk. One of us doesn't understand. (I hope it's me, 'cause I really want this to work!)
What I have is a small fleet of Acer tablets without OEM disks, only system restore disks, and I shouldn't have to start over every time a windows file becomes corrupted. I need the repair function that only a windows disk can provide. (I would also like to see tablet edition running without Acer's crapware and bloated utilities just once!) Any help is appreciated.

You need a normal OEM CD, NOT A DELL ONE!!! You are correct in that the dell phones WON'T ASK for your key as they are DELL CD'S!!!, Acer, forget that too!! Re-read my post and you will see, when I say "OEM CD" I mean OEM CD!! NOT dell, or acer or anything else! OEM CD, thats it.

OK, I am going to show my ignorance. I didn't know that there were such a thing as an OEM CD that is not provided by Dell, or HP, or some other company. (BTW, Acer does not provide OS CDs, only system restore CDs. I called and asked. Very un-helpful. Don't buy Acer.)

So, how does one go about laying hands on an OEM XP Pro CD without a brand name on it?

Dood! It worked. I really had to search for a torrent, but I found one and it worked just like you said. You Rock! I can finally perform a repair instead of reverting back to the original Acer image, (which was no prize to begin with.)

    Thanks

asipartner.com, synnex.com, newegg.com, cdw.com... usually around $135... but you only need a cd, not a licence, so i'd suggest the internet somewhere... thats where I get mine... newsgroups (easynews for example), or bit torrent

Also Off Topic, but here goes...

Anyone else noticing odd problems since applying SP3 and/or the latest patches in the last 6 to 8 weeks? It is hard to be specific, because they are all different, but a lot of unusual bugs are starting to occur in software I manage, and we haven't had any problems until about 2 months ago when we started upgrading to SP3 and applying patches.

So, anyone else experiencing "gremlins" in the system?
