I've got a CF-30 with a 750g hdd, factory gps, AT&T wwan, and a FP reader. It is an mk1 model. It is also running XP. I like XP, however need to upgrade due to the soon to be lack of support. Would it be better to get a CF-30 mk3 or mk2 with windows7 or is it feasible to keep my mk1 model? I use it alot at work and would like it to be as quick as possible. If I have to spend a little money, it does not bother me. I just want the best bang for my buck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend getting another HDD...leaving your current HDD intact and trying Windows 7 in your MK1. There is a thread here on how to load Win7 on a MK1. The CF-30 MK3 is the only 30 model that had Win 7 available.

The CF-30MK3 I have would hang at the Panasonic splash screen for about 20 seconds even after a trip to Heartland for service. This made the unit seem slow.

My favorite is the 30 MK2.

For speed wise I would also get a SSD for it, then see about getting a media bay adapter for storage since I see you have a 750gb hd. How much in Central Louisiana are you? I am in the north east corner about a hour from Monroe.

I just sold my MK1 and upgraded it for the buyer. I upgraded the memory to 4GB and added a new 160GB SSD with Windows 7. Before the upgrades boot time was 80 seconds but after the upgrades it's now 42-46 seconds boot . Newegg has all there SSD's on sale...240GB to 500GB from $129.99 to $289.99 .

I was looking at Crucial's website and seen that they have a 1TB Seagate SSHD for $129. How would I go about using this and installing W7 at the same time? I already have 4GB of mem.

Sounds like you are just about maxed out on that unit now. When I get home I will do a few benchmarks on my Mk2 one with ssd one with hard drive and we can see how it performs to yours.

Can you post a link? I don't see that deal...

You would install it like any other drive, install the OS and drivers if needed... Then optimize for SSD use.
