ha yeah it has been awhile since I have posted here regularly. I just have alot of things going on right now and most of them aren't good. I haven't even had a chance to send ohlip his cf28 lcd that I was supposed to get to him weeks ago. sometimes life gives you a lemon and if you only had some water you could make lemonade.
Dan -
Dan, Don't you worry I am not in a hurrry. Just take your time. That unit is intended for my own use I mean to my collection of toughbook. I just want it to be in all nice working condition before I put it on my collection cabinet. Lol
ohlip -
Teo,
Need any smaller CF-28 parts? I have a bunch... -
Rick,
Do you still have the dc jack cover for 28. Mine is almost fall apart, Lol Thats the only part need to be replace with excemption of the LCD. Thanks
teo -
I'll throw a couple of them in the mail to you tomorrow...
-
Hey Rick, I have a few items I need for a 28 also. If I put together a list, ya think you might be able to help me out? I would be glad to pay for the items and shipping.
Robert -
Rick,
Thanks, man! BTW, How s the cf-18 that you acquired recently, Do you still need a part for it?
teo -
I am around, and I have been posting
Most of the other regulars are probably waiting to see what you are going to mod next
You did mention in another post that you had acquired some cf-18s and it will be interesting to see how your mods progress on them
There is a lot more interest from people lately in the tablet models
I remember a year ago I was thought of as being strange for using my cf-19 as my main computer
Alex -
As far as small parts, does anyone have a pop-up from monitor WiFi antenna? -
I just got here but I have also been more busy lately than I can remember in a long time.
I am not complaining but it can cramp my free time, whatever that is?
In addition to the Toughbook distraction I buy and restore tiny fiberglass travel trailers....huh?
www.fiberglassrv.com
I just picked up another over the weekend and they keep me busy and provide an interesting platform to use Toughbook in.
I work in South Florida a lot and will often drive down there and camp there and all the way back.
Someone has to do it.
Ed -
I guess I haven't really posted as much because it seemed like everyone else wasn't posting as much either, I dunno lol I've also been busy putting together some MK5 CF-29s, still looking for a good condition lid.....
-
We don't like you Rick, can't you get the hint!
-
Ahhh, you know I'm just kidding.
I try to get on here and look around at least once a day. There are some other web sites that I have been doing some reading on to learn about some other stuff as well. But like the other guy said, just so freakin busy, plus I am not in my car as often right now which cuts into my surfing time. -
-
I'm still around... Toughbooktalk is still going strong (minus RICK ARGGG lol)
w00t! -
Kinda like to have a backlit,, chicklet style keyboard for my 28 ..
-

I am still trying to troubleshoot the 29 in my sig with the TS all of a sudden stop responding; a friends PC that will lose video AFTER the XP splash screen, even in safe mode and using a PCIE video card instead of onboard video; and been fighting WIN7 on my 19 so I just purchased Vista with a free WIN7 upgrade when it's released. Besides that, been working 60+ hours a week at my job then come home to 4 kids who all are acting like Mnem.... whew I am tired...
-
Doob! Good to see you.. Glad you are alive and working hard.
Have you tried removing the RAM on the Toughbook with the video problem? -
No I have not. Didn't think bad RAM could cause the TS to stop responding.
However, if you are asking about the PC that loses video after the splash screen, I have not tried REMOVING the RAM, but did add an extra 1gb stick. Could bad RAM cause the vid problem in XP? I have video in BIOS and can F8 to those options; However, every option I have tried leads to a black screen after the splash screen, never get a desktop. The other weird thing is I tried to do a repair or reinstall, but XP does not see a drive at all. What I planned on trying next was installing a spare HD on the machine and see if XP will load on that, and if it does, then just slave their drive to it. -
Doobi
I have seen issues like this before
On the pc boot into windows using the onboard video
See if you can load the drivers for the new pci-e card, and see if it is recognized in windows
Reboot and go into bios and see if you can disable onboard video there,if there is no option to completely disable at least reduce the amount of shared video ram as low as you can
Save and reboot plugging the monitor back in the video card
You should be good to go then, if not change the monitor cable to the second output on the video card ,as there is quite often two outputs

Alex -
Welcome to the Toughbook section of NBR Red Dragon
We keep pretty much to ourselves here
But I must get out more often, looks like we have some work to do sprucing up our Avatars
Alex -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
You people seem cool i will drop in here more often -
*trying to sound as conceeded as possible* Yeah, we know we are cool
We do keep to ourselves here because we only use Toughbooks for the most part and we are anti-everything-else lol
Once you join the dark side of the Toughbook world you will NEVER even glance back!
P.S., nice car... I've raced an M45 with my 300C SRT and beat it... Very nice cars though thats for sure!!
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Yeah you guys seem to be proud owners, thats cool.
at 300C SRT they are quick but you must be paying quite a bit at the pump
-
...you mean there are other forum boards worth reading here (and posting over 6200 times in)?
-
I get about 24 MPG on the highway and about 18 around town... about $50/fill for premium (19 gallon tank) (pump 17-18 gallons)... If I couldn't of afforded the gas I wouldn't have bought a $50k luxury muscle car
-
Hmmmm... I get 21MPG... on a GOOD day with my foot at mid level...
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Really? Do you drive with a light foot? Thats crazy, i have never heard of anyone getting over 20 MPG with the SRT 300's. -
I have been job hunting. Just landed a job in Atl and now I spend 3+ hours in traffic. LOL Up side is I see what toughbooks the police in the area use as they pass me in the HOV lane.
-
Nice car! What year is it? The first 911 I dove was a 74 Targa from Germany back in the 80's. l also got to drive a 930 for a few blocks. -
Heh...
Mine was a 1980-something 928... loved it... was my FIRST RED CAR...:rolleyes2:
Good lord, what all kind of SICK/FAST automobiles have I owned?
1966 383 Pontiac Catalina w/TriPower
1969 2+2 Fastback Mustang 351C
1968 Cutlass Supreme Convertible/455/TH400
1969 Nova 396/Muncie/Tubbed/12.46 NO FAST GAS, NO HUFF, NO ROLLER
1970 Dodge Challenger/440 Max Wedge/727
1980 Triumph Spitfire w/German block 2.6 Ford V6/5-spd
1979 F-150 W/ Cadillac 500/TH400
1964 Studebaker Golden Hawk/289
And many more...
Gawd, I was such a dumb@ss... if I had only kept a few of those beasts... but hey, I was a kid, I got bored easily... and I always had my eye on the next one a couple blocks over.
mnem
*Kicks himself some more* -
I know what you are talking about mnementh
My former fast cars (only listing the best 3)
1967 mustang GT fastback competition orange, 390 335hp
Capable of chirping the tires at 85 mph when shifting from second to third gear
1970 Shelby GT 500 428cobra jet white, again 335hp underrated (due to insurance companies raising the rates on muscle cars)
Capable of over 115mph
1975 Bricklin SV1 351 W, orange, modified engine
Capable of 135 mph
Toughbooks are a much cheaper hobby
Alex -
I have owned sporty cars or Jeeps, but have driven many fast cars.
79 930
74 911
79 Z28
00 MB SL600 and CL 600
02 Honda S2000
00 VW GTI
08 F150 Harley Davidson super charged -
I don't drive lightly BELIVE ME lol... All of these cars (minus the SRT 8 Jeeps) get about 24MPG on the highway... my dads friend has a 6 speed manual Challenger SRT8 that gets 25 on the highway...

This brings back memory's ,, My 1st car 1963 1/2 ford galaxie 500 XL with a much modified 390, big cam, headers , aluminium intake, big holley 850,wiend valve covers that looked so sweet & even a mallory unilite ign. Oh the top end of that car seemed to have no limits (just don't try an take any curves ) she was a lil on the heavy side.
#21969 torino cobra/ 428 super cobra jet , yes it had the 7000 rpm lemans rods with capscrews, factory oil cooler, 4 speed , 391 detriot locker w-staggered shocks on that rear axle , it was just a beast. car was stolen , think i still have the title somewhere
#3 1970 Mach-1 mustang 351 C , auto . really just a nice looking cruiser .
#4 And the one i loved the most ( dont tell the T- cobra) a 1968 Olds 442 the original 400 gone and a sweet 455 in its place with many parts from Mondello and a few tricks of my own including a carb allocated from chrysler , 850 thermoquad , TH-400 w/shift kit and a converter from a 350, 1800 - 2000 rpm
stall for free, 3:73 rear axleThat car did everything well!!!
-
Rob... NICE ride... I was thinking about getting one of those. They have great lines! (And a ton of accessories are available for them!)
Then I think about selling the Porsche for a 69 RS Camaro project... Something my wife and I both love... Though she does like the Porsche. Then I think about maybe a 63 Impala... Or a 56 Chevy Shoebox...
One thing is for sure.... If we'd all had 20/20 foresight...We'd all be rich! But since everyone here has the class to buy a Toughbook... I have no doubt of the classy rides as well.
EDIT: Rob... Going back and looking at your pics again... You are in the "Arrest Me Red" category too!
Was it my breath?
