Whenever I adjust the display brightness with Fn+F1/F2, it reverts to the 20% or so it sits at normally after a couple of seconds.

Adjusting it with the display properties (regardless of the power management settings) only works until I adjust it with the keyboard again, when it reverts back to its apparent default.

Has anyone had this happen before?

Did you use the restore disk to load windows and do you have any missing drivers?

No idea what was used when the OS was loaded, comp is running as it was bought.

No idea if any drivers are missing either, no faults showing up in control panel

Win7 64 bit would mean NO to using a recovery disk.

Download and run the driver bundle. Right click and run as administrator.

It really is a driver issue, running 64 bit Windows on a CF-30 is a waste of time as there is no benefit to it. Do a restore with the 32 bit disk and all will work.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Panasonic\Hotkey Appendix
rename HKEYAPPV.dll to something like HKEYAPPV_RTFM.dll and reboot.

The hotkey appendix is screwed up. Barrmaley is telling you to rename it so Windoze won't be able to read the screwed up file.
Odds are it has to do with running 64bit Windows and a 32 bit driver

    I deserved that......

The reason I asked what renaming would do, was because I didnt see/know what effect would have, and then Shawn explained it.

I tried it, and bingo, it works :) Thankyou!
