Hi all,
I have some issues with my newly-purchased (well, used, obviously) CF-29 which I THINK might be solved by buying a new battery, but I'm not entirely sure.
There are two signs that things are not entirely well. First, the battery refuses to give a full charge. Secondly, It discharges to about 90 percent and then the machines switches off without warning. This happens both in XP and Ubuntu 11.04, so it's not just a Windows thing.
I've tried a battery calibration, but that doesn't really work because again the machine just gives the ghost after a very short while. Battery utilities say that it is about 21 percent depleted and should give about 2 and a half hours of charge - but I don't know how reliable that information is without calibration.
Would any of you have a suggestion how to proceed? I wouldn't mind buying a new battery since I got the CF-29 for next to nothing and I really like the machine - but I needed to be sure that it would solve the problem.

That is a typical sign of a bad battery. Some of the cells are bad.

Yup... Bad battery.. You can try to recalibrate a few times to see if it helps... But I think you'll need a new battery.

Hi, thanks for the speedy replies!
Would you have any suggestions where to buy a battery? (I'll need a place that ships to Europe). -
Ebay, without doubt. Or perhaps one of the masters have one laying around.

Actually, the guy I bought it from spontaneously offered to send me another battery he got as a replacement. That was really cool.

You can't beat that. Did you buy it on eBay?

If he has more than one battery ask for a Yellow tabbed battery rather than the standard blue tab as its newer and higher capacity
