I have this little door/flap that is above my battery door. When open it looks like maybe a SIM card can be inserted. I cannot find any info anywhere for this option. Anybody know about this option?

I have a WWAN sled in my MK2 and it isn't there? Maybe something they changed on the MK3's??

I have the GOBI on this one, and am currentlt using Verizon. They dont require a SIM card. If I were to go to AT&T I guess I would need that.

AT&T and T-Mobile are the major nationwide GSM providers in the USA, and GSM requires the SIM Card. iDEN will also use a SIM, that is Nextel, Southern Linc and Boost Mobile, but they have no mobile broadband solution. It sounds like perhaps your MK2 will only do CDMA, or perhaps the SIM slot iis more hidden?

Now that I think about it, my MK2 has a dedicated Verizon card. MK3 was when they started GOBI. That all makes since now. Thanks!

If you put a CDMA card (Sprint/Verizon/Alltel) into this laptop it should work but you obviously wouldn't use the SIM card. If you put a GSM (ATT/Tmobile) card into this unit then you WOULD use the SIM card... I think it's only there if you need it...

I have a CF-29NDLGFBM It has a Novatel Wireless Expedite EU730 I loaded the software Mobilink from Panasonic web site….then installed my employer provided AT&T Sims and bam…… I was on line.

    But….

    I want Verizon ( rev a ) so I bought a Sierra Wireless MC5725. I removed the EU730 installed the MC5725 in its place.

The MC5725 installs ok and windows sees it. But the MC5725 software does not locate it  Any Ideas?

I use the verizon MIFI, it works like a champ. I am going to try and adapt a caddy from the mediaport, like a floppy so I can charge it. I am going to start a new thread on the subject. if you want to discuss it we can pick it up there. I think this option will be the most versatile by far. then the toughbook will create a hotspot bubble for 5 users.
