I just recently purchased a mk1 cf30. I gave AT&T the imei number for the wwan sled. I put the sim card they gave me in. I open up mobilink, but it reads no service, no device detected. My AT&T iphone has service where I am sitting. Any input would be appreciated.

Have you checked that Wireless WAN in the bios is enabled?
Sometimes you may need to turn off (not sleep or hibernate), pull the battery and power lead, hold the power switch on for a minute or so (to discharge capacitors) before powering up again.
It'll help the gurus here to help you if you post your full model number from the bios, also your bios and ec version numbers.
Also I found not all versions of Mobilink are equal - trying a different one may do the trick. -
Operator-locked? Unsupported GSM band?

After 45 minutes on the phone with 2 different techs, we got it. They couldn't figure out what APN to use. It was ISP.CINGULAR

What can you guys tell me about this model. I don't really know much about them...just that they are tough as nails, and there are many still in service. -

If it's connecting then the Mobilink version you're using is presumably OK?
My CF-19 Mk.1, same generation as your CF-30 and tending to have similar issues, would only work with one version out of the three or four I tried. -

Sorry; I just couldn't resist. -
Hell yeah!

Just out of curiosity, Can I put a gobi 2000 card in my existing sled? And if so which one do I need?
-
you'll need a Panasonic branded one (i.e. OEM Panasonic Gobi2000 shipped with a Panasonic, or as an OEM WWAN Kit from Panasonic).
What am I doing wrong?
