They run from back by the hinge, under the odd shaped cover on the bottom,
over by the hard drive. They have an odd shaped connector. Each one has its own.

Are these for an antenna? My model # says no wifi. I have no antenna.

I'm a little confused by your description, but it might be the illuminated keyboard inverter board stuff.

    Got a picture?

Look on the back between the dock connector and the microphone port. If there is gold coloured connector in there, you've got antenna wires. If not, you have something else.

I think I know to what he refers, I have the same odd shaped plate on the bottom of both of my CF-28s. Only one of the two have the gold connector at the back.

One end comes up to the back edge between the mic connector and one side of the docking station connector then the plate goes toward the battery-hdd cover where it ends with a more narrow width near the divider between the HDD and battery compartments.

Under the plate is a semi-clear plastic layer end below that a channel in the case. In the CF-28 with wifi there is a cable, in the one without there is no cable - though I presume that one may be added as needed.

One black and one white wire. They go from the PCI slots,
through the hinge, into the top cover. Each one has a metal piece soldered to its end and they are screwed onto opposite sides of the display.
Inside of course. Are these antennas? If I add a card, what kind of range would they provide?

That almost sounds like somebody added internal antennas up in the LCD. What kind of cards are in the Mini-PCI slots?

Modly is correct thats an antena. I don't know but for sure it will not get a wireless signal since you mentioned that the antena itself is inside the LCD which is cover by a magnesium alloy.

If it's dead nuts in the middle, he'll get signal through the LCD. Not much, but for when I'm in the room with the router and don't want to find my antenna to screw on the side.

The signal is pretty low though. I can sit 10-15 feet from the router, and have 50-60% signal.

Those are fairly good cards (I used to have a few of those), and the seller is top notch (I've ordered from him at least 8 times).

Most of us use a slightly more expensive card that has 4x the transmit power. They are still atheros based, but with a better amp onboard. They cost $50 though, so it may not be worth the extra cost for you. 4x the transmit power doesn't mean 4x the distance, unfortunately.

This thread proves that a picture is worth at least a thousand words. What is the history (that you know) of this CF28? Someone installed antennas but no wifi card? I would love to find out where/how they are mounted!
