On the cf28 some models had an inverter built-in to power the other emissive keyboard that was an option for that model
There is a few posts on this but you need thge optional inverter to make the keyboard light up, just pluging the third conecter in will not work
In the hinge cover there is a hole for the inverter sensor , thats how you can tell if its there
Read the cf-28 faq thread to find more info on these

Thanks that cleared a lot of things up, by the way were would you get an inverter and is it really worth the trouble, rubber keyboards are pretty easy to get.
    thanks again

Just one other thing to consider they rubber keyboards are easier to come by and need less parts to install but they are ultimately harder to type on and some people dont like that. They are nice though because they light up and are super easy to clean, just thoughts....

I don't know which ones wear out faster but I surely have seen many more worn out rubber keyboards than emissive, and if you have a spare busted one the buttons are easy to exchange on the emissive :)

Yeah... If you get too vigorous with the cleaning on a rubber keyboard you'll tear a few keys!

I was wondering what that hole was in the hinge cover. I guess I'll wait to stumble across a cf-28 w/ an emissive, they sound like a pretty nice addition
Thanks Guy's, as always your knowlage is priceless.
