What makes it for use in hazardous locations? Better seals or something?

    Usually nothing.

As a Haz-Tech I've seen a lot of radio gear branded as "Intrinsically Safe" for use in a hazardous locations. We have torn them down and have never seen any difference then the standard product.

However, if you are going to ask them to certify their electronic device as safe for use while surrounded by the off-gassing of MethylEthylDeath, you are going to pay for it.

I do know that certain CF-29's are designed for SALT... they have extra coatings of paint or sealer or whatnot that help it out to prevent corrosion...

UL1604 Electrical Equipment is Used in Class I and II, Division 2, and Class III Hazardous (Classified) Locations
This is what i found. It looks just like any other cf-29

This unit will have an extra seal around the edge of the bottom cabinet where it meets the top cabinet on the inside. If the seal has not been broken before it will take quite a bit of force to separate it.
