Hi,
I have this car charger some time now and would like to know what toughtbook was it for. I was given it with a CF-M34 toughbook that I bough of ebay and it did not fit it.

Now that I have a CF-19 and the end fits. Does anyone see any problems in me using it for the CF-19.

the Cf 19 uses a CF-AA1633AM adapter for A/C. It is rated at 16v and 3.75a.
The one shown here is rated at 15.6v and 3.85a
The amps will be ok. I am not sure if the lower than required voltage will make a big difference. I know going the other way works fine. I am using a 16v adapter in my 15.6v Toughbook with no problems -
It will work fine ,the slightly lower voltage is OK
The lind adapters that I use are also slightly lower voltage

You need to remember the A6 at the end of the part number
The original CF-AAV1601 would have had the old style connector
With the additition A6 it shows the yellow tip new style
This is common on panasonic ac adapters and battery's
You really have to look closely for compatability when you are purchasing these items

When dealing with unregulated power supplies those numbers can be really scary; it is not unusual to see a linear (line transformer based) unregulated power supply rated at 12V DC 1 Amp (loaded) have an idle voltage (unloaded) as high as 18V DC!
Typically, laptop power supplies fall into one of four approximate ranges; 12V, 16V, 19V, and 24V for some models of Apple laptops.
In all my years of working on computer equipment, I've NEVER had a failure cobbling together (hacking the proper end for a laptop onto a power pack from another) a power supply for a machine as long as I keep it appropriately within one of those ranges. There is no such thing as HP branded electrons; they couldn't care less if I use a Dell power pack as long as there's enough current capacity and the correct polarity.
The issue with many newer laptops is the MFR wants you to buy ONLY their product, so they use combinations of resistors and special plugs to let the laptop know if the power supply attached is OEM. Dell is especially bad for this; from what I've read, the power pack on my XPS1330 is actually ACPI compliant, meaning it TALKS to the laptop. Oh joy...

I wonder whether it would stop charging if I put it under the Cone of Silence... -

Hi,
Thank you all for replying.
I am one happy camper that I have a car charger for my CF-19. I can rember when I got it with my CF-M34 and seen that it does not fit. I ordered a end to put on the charger, but I never got the time to do it. -

Would this have enough amps to run my CF 29 Mk3?

All I gotta say is someone has way too much time and/or money on their hands. -
Plenty of Amps, but the phase polarity is all wrong. You hit your ToughBook with that, you'll light it up like Tim Taylor. Or turn it into a platypus. Depends on what you got the Finite Improbability Regulator set to...
