A CF53 has the bare minimum requirement for resolution. 1360 x 768
A CF19 and a CF31 do not have enough resolution.
Fully rugged is out. Semi rugged is the only option.
I would get a CF52 with an i5 cpu and ATI graphics. mk4 or mk5
Like this.

It will be one of the newer versions for sure, dont want to spend more than $300-$500
-
Well here is another problem
AutoCad 2017 requirements Digitizer WINTAB support
CF52 does not have a digitizer.
CF19 does but not enough resolution.
Toughpad tablet may work.
Do you have a separate digitizer? -
I checked an AutoCad forum to get some real world requirements.
As I expected the requirements listed on Autocad page are ridiculously slow.
I feel your budget is going to get you a complete ready to go CF52 mk2 Core2Duo with an ATI card. If you are really lucky, you can score a CF52mk3 i5 with ATI graphics.
The latest Autocad is going to be slow on either of those.
This is a post on that forum for Autocad 2015..I am sure 2017 will need more.
Hello
Welcome to the Autodesk/AutoCAD Forums !
1) For AutoCAD & Inventor, you must have a PC /Notebook with 16 Gb Ram !
Maybe more, if you plan to create/design large 3D models ...
2) For Notebook or NOT, the basic speed of your processor ( 4 cores is ENOUGH) must be the FASTEST possible ... depending on your budget !
For a Notebook, please the basic speed has to be a minimum of 2.4-2.8 Ghz with a Turbo Mode 3.0-3.6 Ghz
For others PCs, the basic speed has to be a minimum of 3.4-3.6 Ghz ...
3) A correct graphic card with its OWN memeory (2 GB is OK)
4) If possible a SSD because it's very comfortable ...

Perhaps the CF-C2 would also be a consideration. Less rugged but faster processor and built-in digitizer.

Well ****, i need something for out in the field thats durable, i have a cf-74 right now works fine but sometime slows down, just wanted something better
-
Is that CF74 running AutoCad 2017?
-
I think it's 2015 or 2016
-
A CF74 is 1024 x 768 resolution.
If you keep using that older version, a CF31 with an i5 would work nicely. A CF31 also has 1024 x 768 resolution. It is the same size screen as the CF74, but a CF31 is fully rugged.
The newer version "may" work also. I would try the older one first. I wonder why they "require" the resolution to be so much higher??
I happen to have a used CF31 mk2 to sell.
Send me a private message about it. -
I messaged u i think.
-
I see it in my inbox.
I will check it later when I get a few minutes -
Based on my personal experience, autocad 2012 or so (whenever the ribbon style interface was intrioduced) and later start up slowly, taking up to a minute to be ready on a slow machine, but wireframe performance is good as long as the drawing is not too complex. I would guesstimate a few thousand lines and points before performance becomes unacceptable on a core 2 duo machine with intel graphics. Without a modern graphics card you will not be rendering anything though.
Autocad will launch with 1024x768 but any version with a ribbon based gui is almost completely unusable at such a resolution. You would have to work with a single view at a time and all panels hidden. -
Fully rugged might be an (expensive) option.
The CF-20 seems to ship with a 10.1” WUXGA 1920 x 1200 (224 PPI) sunlight-viewable 800 nit IPS display.
