Ordered what was supposed to be a CF-AA1653A from an ebay seller. What I got is a CF-AA1653 with no terminating A. The computer side connector has a pin in the center of it as does the connector on the computer so clearly it can't be plugged in. I've contacted the seller and am hoping and praying that this person is going to tell me that they simply shipped me the wrong one. With just over 2000 sales and a 100% rating you'd think it would be a safe buy.

Meanwhile my laptop is rapidly moving toward becoming a paperweight as the new puppy decided to go Jaws on my old adapter and I've been running as frugally as possible on those extra batteries I have for the last 4 days. I may have to patch the old one to get me by until someone can provide me with the right one.

So any ideas of what I was given?

Well that was fast. In the time it took me to type my post here they have already apologized and promised to send the correct adapter and a return mailer for the other one. Not bad.

You recived an early toughbook model ac adapter
There were used on cf-28's and cf-72's and spec'ed out at 5 amps output
You need the newer style "yellow tip" type

Thanks Alex. I don't suppose you, or anyone else, knows if it can be used with the CF-VCBTB1U battery charger? If so I could at least get by until the correct one arrives. I guess I can check for myself when I get home, but you know what curiosity does to cats.

Yes, you can use that power supply with the CF-VCBTB1U battery charger. There are 2 power inputs.

Charges both the main battery and the Media Bay battery outside the machine; at the same time, if you wish.

Thank you both. I knew that my VCBTB1 had 2 inputs and was hoping the other one was for this charger. I was so relieved when I got here, plugged it in and saw those 3 LEDs light up.

I was just gonna ask that. I have the supply for my 29 but not the 72 on the way. I have the charger already and figured it would come in handy one day.
