I have bought a CF-19 with Touchscreen and SIRF 4 GPS. When I got it unit the touchscreen with the program where you could write on the screen with your finger did absolutely nothing. Tried several times and seen the toggle where you could turn on/off the touch and nothing was written. I tried it, my wife tried it and a friend all with the same results, "nothing" was written on the screen.
I had problems with the GPS taking way too long to lock on to "any" satellite (worked fine and fast the first 3 times) and it got to the point it took over 6 hours before it locked.
I sent the unit back under warranty and I was told that the CF-19 MK3 is "less responsive" than a CF-19 MK1 and a CF-18 touchscreen, just the way they are designed. The point is there was "nothing written" when using the touch.
My question is on the touchscreen and what I should expect. I have never used or seen a touchscreen Toughbook and have no idea what to expect. I do not even need a touchscreen but it was the one I bought.
Any and all input is appreciated and if anyone has a video of a CF-19 MK3 being used with the touchscreen I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

A few questions.
1. What is the full model number?
2.Does the touchscreen work to open and close programs?
3.Where did you buy it? Online dealer, fleabay, direct from Panasonic, fall off the back of a truck???? -
We need the complete model number, you may have a digitizer model which requires a special stylus, the touch screen will not respond to your finger. All CF-19s have some sort of capacity to respond to input from the LCD, digitizer or touch, some have both.

CF-19K4RAXAM
I was not able to get the "scribble pad" (I forgot what it was called, I sent it back for warranty and do not have it in front of me) to work at all. It had a mode to turn on/off the touch and I tried both modes with no response. Inside my Oziexplorer software I complained to my wife that I paid all this money and the touch does not work and I touched the screen and it panned to the touch of the finger. I said WOW and tried it again and there was no response. I tried to open and close programs and it did not work.
The seller is not important at this point and just want to know if what they said was true, the CF-19 MK3's are less responsive than the CF-18's and the CF-19 MK2's.

Thank you for the rest of the model. It is a touch and not a digitizer. It should work with your finger.
I have never heard any complaint of a touchscreen of one model being less responsive than another. Unless the touchscreen was going bad or the incorrect drivers were installed.
If the touchscreen was not capable of scribbling, Panasonic would not have installed the software.
Knowing where someone bought a unit can help us sometimes. One is that we in forum know of several "bad" sellers. Two if it is someone new telling BS stories like that, we want to know. 3 is does it have a warranty? 4 is that it might tell us some the history of the machine. -
I am working with the seller. They are due to send me another MK3 today or tomorrow. Once I get it and check it out I will post back.
I also had an intermittent GPS in that unit that worked fine for the first 3 days and the 4th took a few hours to lock on and then the 5th day it took over 6 hours to lock on. I was also told that the same GPS was tested and reported as working fine. Talk about an inferiority complex in the making... -
I think he is say lots of bs, just to cover it's mistake.

Well the tracker says my unit arrives today. I have to work over tonight but will be concentrating on the Touchscreen and the GPS issues to see if they are corrected. The GPS is going to be hard since it was intermittent and I hope it does not fail again while I am in the desert like it did last time. I was not expecting this to dominate so much of my time.

I am done, I got the "replacement unit" and it has the same touchscreen problems... And it is the same unit they sent me the last time.
I am looking at buying another but it has no GPS. What are the best GPS' out there available for a CF-19? Also looking for a good reliable source to purchase the GPS.
Also looking for the difference in a Sierra MC7750 4G modem vs. a GOBI 3G? I am not familiar with either.

I STRONGLY suggest you get a refund from that seller.
Post a want to buy in the buy sell trade forum here.... You'll get a better unit at probably a better price.
Sadlmkr :hi2:usually has a good selection of units for sale. You won't find a better seller ANYWHERE.
You can also send him a PM..
-
OR... Mod in your own GPS... I believe the pinouts are posted here somewhere... If you are handy and can solder...
EDIT: Woohoo... My 6300'rd post! -
Better price ....I'm afraid not. My only CF-19 is a CF-19 R loaded......everything 'cept SSD. 220 hours.
Thanks anyway guys.
