Hiya,
Yes, I'm new. Anyways, to topic...
I recently got a CF-28 from eBay (£95, yay!), and it arrived in almost PERFECT condition. Just some scratches (Easy to hide with a lick of paint, but that would be pointless, as it would probably get scratched in five minutes) and a missing dc cover, but otherwise perfect. I could have spent £10 more and got one in a worse condition

I installed ArchLinux (WM: Openbox), and it works brilliantly. Touchscreen works, mouse kinda works (a little slow... Even after I changed the sensitivity). Works as a nice coding machine.
It comes with bluetooth, which I'm thinking I can scrap, as I really don't need bluetooth. WiFi would be much more useful. Shame the GSM modem is GPRS only... Oh well, the 3 transmitter is broke anyways(Stupid company ignores my emails, should probably just call Ofcom, and nobody cares about the other operators providing 3G).
Anyways, this is probably an OCD tendancy, but I want to replace the DC cover/hatch. The screws still remain in the socket. Oh, and the access lock is blanked out, is there any way of getting a replacement for that? Thanks![]()
TL;DR: Read above paragraph.

You may have better luck in the buy sell trade section of this forum.

If you had read the FAQ, you would see that Heartland is the place to go for stuff like that. But, as always Shawn is right too. B/S/T forum would be better to ask for this!
Thanks -

You might take a glance at Toughbooks and Linux or maybe....ummmm....I'll go look. http://forum.notebookreview.com/6422641-post1.html Page 1 the bit about the touchpad. I don't know if it will work with Arch.

The power port cover is available from Heartland; their details are in the FAQ. Or, you can watch the forum for the next time someone offers to place a group order from Heartland; their shipping is quite expensive and several members offer from time to time.
If you have a 28 with a blank in the lock, it just means you DON'T have a Mk1; that's the only one that came with the key. The Mk2 & Mk3 don't have the same lower chassis as the Mk1; even if you put a lock tumbler & key in it, there's nothing for it to lock. Even on the Mk1, it only serves to lock the battery cover and poorly at that; you can defeat it with a butter knife then short the switch inside and power it on.

Though he may not ship to UK. -
Easiest wifi setup is a 3COM PC card model 3CRPAG175(B). Fits inside the PC card slot with antenna retracted (off), then simply open the door and click the antenna out to startup the wifi.
Member toughasnails (Blair) frequently stocks various covers and may be willing to ship to the UK.
I went to alot of trouble to retrofit a Mk1 lock into a Mk3 unit, and Dwagon is right it does not provide much security. And finding a matching key is a b!tch. -
