Any ideas on where I might need to look in the CF-29 to find the EV-DO modem? I'm going to remove it since I have no use for it.

It's on the sled on the left side just abover the battery remove two screws and slide it out.

Same place the GPS and the Bluetooth modules reside.

The bluetooth module is under the Keyboard cover plate near the rj11 modem and lcd cables
-
Right above the battery bro. Held in by two tiny screws...
-
Ah so that is a removable section above the battery.
Righto will investigate that later on today and might even capture some close-up pics of what's in there.

You'll need the WM Cover part to take the place of the sled if you remove it entirely...

Ok investigated the sled. It looks like it's designed to have multiple uses given that there is a small bump in the outside cover (the bit secured with three screws) that has nothing behind it. The PCB's in the sled have a small antenna connector at the back end and a copper trace antenna seems to exist under where the external plastic cover goes (to give it 'visibility' clear of the metal casing).
I couldn't work out if there's more than just the EV-DO modem there. The system has an Intel 2915 card somewhere but I haven't found that yet.

The wireless lan card is under the bottom cabinet,
The bumpout that you described on the modem cover, is for gps antenna.
Where is EV-DO modem located in CF-29?
