I am looking for a new SATA hybrid harddrive for my Panasonic Toughbook CF-30 (mark3).

    Found 2 interesting SSHD drives.

seagate ST500LM000-1E (has 8 GB MLC NAND memory)

    and

Toshiba MQ01ABF050H (also has 8GB of MLC NAND)

Has anybody ever tried one of these in their CF-30 ? Does it work good with Windows 7 or Windows XP ?

there was a discussion about a hybrid drive and the fact that one needs to load the manufacturers software in order to use it to the full extent .
i believe it was the same one as ador posted the link to :
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...2236642&cm_re=wd_black-_-22-236-642-_-Product
the question is :"do all such drives require some form of software to make them run correctly ?" .
one also has to consider what happens if one side or the other *dies* .
