Being ex-military, I have a tendency to like gear I don't have to be gentle with.
I have a svelte little Thinkpad X200s that I take home and do service calls with.

Being that its a stinkpad and plastic, I have had to replace parts of the chassis on more than one occasion, and I wasn't being rough with it.

My toughbook on the other hand...
Knowing the reputation and durability, as soon as I unboxed it, I turned it on, waitied for windows to boot, closed the lid, and chucked it down a flight of hardwood steps onto a concrete slab.

    Worked fine.
No case needed, throw onto the passenger side seat, or in the trunk, and if it rolls around, no worries....

I, OTOH, have a Genuine Panasonic® Toughbook™ carry case, but it's primarily used to carry around the 3½" floppy drive / Multi-Media Bay battery / DVD reader/writer (depending on what's in the MMB at the time) and the 110V power supply.

The CF-29 itself sure doesnt need the case! :nah:

Well I am now TB free as it was handed over to my friend last weekend. He is not at all a computer person but he does like the new toy. It's really easy to get used to the touch screen. When we plugged in a second screen we both caught ourselves touching the external monitor as if it was going to do something! The ruggedness certainly appeals to him.
Anyway, he was quite happy in the end. BTW, thanks for all the help!
