I've used many Panasonic Recovery CD/DVDs and noticed that Windows XP only goes up to Service Pack 2, never SP3 for machines that came out after SP3 was released (May 2008?), even including the XP downgrades for Vista models. Anyone else noticed that, or have any counter-examples?
Reading here on NBR didn't reveal any problems with SP3 for Toughbooks. Some claimed it was slightly faster than SP2, others vice versa. So why would Panasonic stick with SP2?

@Springfield:
I've got my own theory on this, but feel free to disagree....the Micro$haft software on the oem recovery cd's has been optimised by Panasonic to give a better balance between cpu load, operating temperature & battery life.
In tests, 9 out of 10 product development engineers agree....the additional bloat of SP3 has a negative effect on the primary variables if your target audience is "on the go" Industrial, Law Enforcement & Military applications.
O.K. I fabricated the 9 out of 10 product development engineers but I do think it's heavier, slower & Panasonic found a better balance with drivers tweaked for SP2.

I think that it was near EOL and they just did not want the support issues on an older product. I would try slipstreaming a new CD with SP3 and the latest drivers if I was still flogging XP.

I think they don't want to spend money on an older product
If they tell about XP SP3 support - they have to test all products/drivers/applications with SP3. It's expensive. -

Why does Panasonic like Service Pack 2 for XP?
