I am wearing a friendship wristband. It is made of resin/carbon/metal, it has some wak magnets inside.
When I place this wristband over the num-roll-scroll-HDD-SD-power indicators in the lower right the screen goes off. Even if I do not touch the laptop, only hovering the wristband and its magnets over it shuts off the screen power.
Why?
What sensor is there?

There is a magnet in the top right of the screen so when the lid is closed the laptop will hibernate. So your wristband makes the computer think the screen is closed

Throwing my iPhone up on the palm-pad of my CF-31 does the same thing. It forces hibernation. If only I could sleep so easily!

When I throw my 29 at the wall open then it turns off but why?
sarcazam but still answer because my friend needs to know -
The sensor to turn the screen off when you close the lid.

Switch the bracelet to your left wrist?
EDIT: THE LID SWITCH CAN BE DISABLED IN BIOS ....F2 TO BIOS, SCROLL TO LID SWITCH, F6 TO CHANGE, F10 TO SAVE.
Here's a shot showing the hidden location of the micro-switch on a CF-31 MK4.
With this tool it switches off at +- 7/8".Attached Files:

Why does my magnetic wristband switch off the screen?
