I tripped over this site while looking for iPhone hacks...

I swear I've seen this unit before; does anyone here know if they've been marketing prior under a different name?

They look to be almost the exact same as a GETAC unit.

I got started hacking Motorola phones... I used to belong to a big forum about that where I posted "How-To's" years ago. Pretty much same as here. Great fun. I had the first Razr in MD with video! Heck.. One of the first in the USA. They are easy to hack as far as volume and hidden menus and apps... Ahhh... the easy days...

    *Sigh*

Yeah... it appears the success of our little niche has gotten more than a few new faces in the mix. I mean, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. This is one of the few markets where you can still sell a $5,000 laptop(Without gold plating & putting retarded D&G all over it).

The same thing happened when I got into motorhoming; my 33' Georgie Boy was top of the line from the #1 MFR when I got it; when I got out of it, there were easily 10x as many MFRs out there, some ranging from the equivalent of a Hyundai to custom coaches where the doors cost as much as my whole motorhome...

Know any fun tricks to make a Motorola C139 do anything interesting/different?
Making it display 24H time would be nice if nothing else. :) Maybe a way to display the battery as a percentage instead of 3-bars-and-an-outline?

    Rick.
Hacking cellphones? EVDO cards are cell phones. Making a $35.00 eBay IBM card work in a Toughbook would probably be a lucrative side bar no?

It wasn't so much hardware hacking (Like we do now) as software hacking with hex editing. www.howardforums.com is where it's at.... I specialized in the old V600 and the early Razr... I haven't done anything in years though beside adjust volume levels and a few other things ont he razr...

I used to specialize in the old Nextel phones and Moto StarTacs :D

The new convertible tablet is all the craze. Most of the major players are coming out or already have a rugged one, Durabook, Getac, ASUS, DRS <~~ Not really a major player, more like a "me too".... and of course the leader, Panasonic (king of the rugged mobile computing industry) Toughbook. Don’t know much about the ASUS or DRS models, but the Durabook model is the newest to be released and man is it loaded, too many standard features to list. Getac is a copycat, took the CF19 into the shop and said “switch the labels, look a Getac V100!” You can even use a Getac V100 in a Toughbook CF19 Vehicle mount… which could be beneficial if you're tired of Toughbooks and wanna go the cheap route, but don’t want to replace your vehicle mount.
Always one step ahead is the 80% market share, advanced, great lookin, works like a charm…. Toughbook 19 MK3. Yo, that’s a real machine.

Doesnt the Kontron look like the Getac.... hmmmm.

Then again some beg to differ
