    WiFi card killed my CF-51

    I have a couple of CF-51s that I have never been able to get wifi to work on. One is a CF-51P and the other is a CF-51Q. I was trying Intel 3945 cards in them today that I bought and now neither one of them will charge or power up. Any ideas what might have happened? I replaced both cards with power off and when I plugged the power supply back in, I was unable to power on and no charge light.

    Where did you get the cards? Are they from a Hp or Lenovo?

    What exact model was the card the originally came in that mk CF51?

    I don't think they had cards when I got them.

    They are Intel 3945. They have a Dell part number. Very odd a wifi would kill a computer. Are they just doorstops now?

    CF-51 will run an intel 5100 from a 52, changing the card should have no effect. Pull the wifi card,pull the battery and lean on the power button for 15 seconds, replace battery and see what happens. Believe it or not I have had several Toughbooks do the same thing,power pull reset fixed it.

    Thank you safn1949 for the reset information it worked perfect. I have tried an Intel 5100 and have not had any luck. It recognizes it in device manager but never works. I did find the right part number Intel 3945 and it works except for it won't ever acquire an address. I need to try to reload the TCP/IP stack and see if that works. I have some 5100s in other CF-51s that work fine. I guess it could be a BIOS version issue I have not investigated that.

    If it is a Dell or Lenovo card it will not work, you need a card out of a Panasonic. Also pull a card out of another 51 and see what happens. I have a lot of panasonic 5100 cards

    Dell cards work for me.

    Might need to cut pin 20...I think it is pin 20.

    I'm not sure I had any luck with Dell cards, and I wont touch HP's as they are garbage. I have so many 5100's I never need to. :D

    Add Atheros card with N, I had to manually find the driver. Several years later when I
    installed the same Atheros card in a Dell driver auto installed from MS:
