In North America only channels 1 to 11 are permitted; however in Europe we can use channels 1 to 13 (two more). My CF-52 laptop does not see channels 12 and 13.

Do you know how to unlock "seeing" the two additional channels? I am in a zone where we are fighting for free frequencies :)

Had u tried the same with an UBUNTU-live CD? Only to check, if it is a hardware or software limitation. If it is software limitation u can try to set the channels at the driver window or reinstall ur wifi-driver with a new one downloaded from Intel Download Center , which could make a difference because of ur download location.

No, it's definitely a firmware limit - as far as other websites discussions say. Sadly Intel don't provide firmwares on their website.

Anyway it's not a very big deal. My idiotic neighbors don't like to use channels 1, 5, 9 and 13 anyway. Many routers are preconfigured to use channel 6 stock so most people jump on it. This bring noise to both channel 9 and 5, so smart routers avoid them - they usually choose either 1 or... sadly 11. And 11 kills 13...

Briefly - it doesn't seem that the European routers are preconfigured to use European frequencies. Most people tend to use the US freqs... And guess what - having 20+ WiFi networks nearby is not a happy situation. Especially when you have 3 clean spectrum instead of 4...

If I knew that (which was very easy to investigate), I would buy a 5Ghz router... But I didn't. Grrrr...

I had the same problem with neighboors so i ended using the channel 7 fix, not dinamic assignment and it worked good, at least for now.
