    HEY, it's been a minute.

anyway, I have an mk1 and got an mk3 for my sister in law.
the mk1 has the intel 2100 with proset drivers, windows zero config
the mk3 has the 2195 with proset drivers, windows zero config

reception has always been sketchy at her work (depends where you sit), but we have both always been able to get on the net; until recently.
now my mk1 has super low signal, and her mk3 doesn't even see the ssid on a network scan.

    why?
I don't believe the equipment has been moved, or the physical topography of the area changed at all.

Sorry, I just assume that the rest of the world should be using CF29's.
    They are both 29's.

First I would disable the Proset app and let windows control the card. You could also find and download wifi signal strength programs to check the signal. A quick search came up with WIFI Signal Strength - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com I have not used this program but I have used others with great success. You might be surprised the difference a slight adjustment of the screen or computer itself can make.

Try downloading the latest drivers directly from the Intel website.

    android phone - wifi analizer

maybe they upgraded the equipment to get a better signal on the newer N's

all it takes is a slight turn and no wifi where before there was

Try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it. You need to determine if it's software or a hardware problem.

Eh, nothing has changed to need the new drivers (they were working fine as is). I hate updating to the newest/latest/greatest bloatware.
    That being said,
I uninstalled the drivers, disabled wifi in bios, pulled the card, checked the contacts, reinstalled the card 6x or so, fired it back up, it reinstalled, and windows zero config worked: until my sister got it back.

Now only the proset program can be used to detect/connect to wireless networks.

??Windows fart, or failing hardware ??
