    Will Ultra ATA/100 interface drive work in cf-29

    Hello,

    Just checking to see if this Hitachi drive will work in my cf29.

    Hitachi GST Travelstar 5K160 160GB 2.5" IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6 Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive

    It should work, but I am not sure if it will be at ata 100 speed. It will probably throttle back to ata 66.

    Okay. My main question is whether ATA/100 is parallel or serial. Obviously I need PATA, but the designations and their histories can be a little mystifying to those of us only semi-literate in the nomenclature, even with the help of the internet. So, I take it that ATA/100 is PATA.

    IDE / ata 100 is PATA

    Any IDE drive (except notorious Samsung 160GB) should work fine in a CF-29. Just be sure it's set to Master.
