Dude on ebay has a rubber backlit keyboard pulled from a nonworking cf-28 and says it may fit a 27. Anyone? Thanks in advance.

Yup, it'll fit. Most keyboards from 27's, 28's and 29's will interchange without problems.
The exception is the "chicklet" (hard keys) backlit keyboards, which have a special inverter board for them that needs to be installed on the 28's. -
The cf-27 needs a 2 connecter backlit keyboard
Check to see if it has only two connecters
If you get a 3 connecter backlit rubber keyboard the backlit will not illuminate on the cf-27.
Heres an example of the 2 wire rubber keyboard.

Thanks for the info. It was sold before I could get to it. Dude had a buy it now for $9.99 + $12 shipping. Someone bought right after I posted last night. I should have jumped on it and worried about interchange later. I appreciate the info as I'm a total newb without many tech skills. On a side note can a battery be rebuilt? I have 2 that holds about 20 mins tops. If so can anyone recommend a reputable place?

Batteries can be rebuilt, but I don't recommend it. I'd scour eBay for a new one.

Thanks for the advertisement.
