No, so is it not possible. U need an extra sim-card reader. And i mean the card-device is a little bit to long :(
    I'll take an USB-3G-device or an 3G-PCMCIA-Card.

I agree with Onirak. I solved the problem on my 29 by going with a Novatell pcmcia card. Yes it does require the pcmcia door to be open and it does protude outside the case, but it is far cheaper than the factory unit.

Maybe Onirak will take apart a usb or pcmcia unit and figure out how to install it internally and get an antenna to work. There are lots of used cards on ebay that can be purchased pretty cheap. Since I'm mod challenged; I'll have to wait for a techno wizard to figure it out.

Maybe something like this can work? I had posted about something similar in another thread, but couldn't track it down.

    http://ceedtec.wsatp.com/usb-mini-pci-express-card-cradle.html

Pull the USB lines from the CN18, or mod a slim pcmcia USB card to pull USB 2.0 across from the internal PCMCIA slot.

    Depending on your soldering skills.

<personally, I'm still trying to get this opposable thumb thing to work right>

@klboo: Wow, thats an really interesting board. Does anyone knows how much it cost?
Because if i have USB in my hand, i would not convert it to pci-e if there are many solutions for 3G on USB direct available.

And papy42: i'm working on this....

Yeah, note too there is a mini-pci to 2 USB 2.0 card, and a mini-pci to mini-pcie, though both look too long for the cf-28 slots.

Just found this so don't see any other information/pricing. Haven't found anything else on these yet - looking for a source.

CDMA in the united States doesn't require a sim card or a USIM. That would be for Sprint, Verizon, Alltel. For 3G in USA for GSM there is only AT&T (T-Mobile is just EDGE) and that is where a sim card is required. If you are trying to get 3G in Europe then Novatel has a card that you can use 3G with built-in siml

I'm always interested in internal 3G solutions for toughbooks. Good luck.
