The short of it, Picked up a CF-30CTQAZBM BIOSV1.00L15 EC V1.00L16 MEMORY 4096GB HD 750GB & DVD DRIVE, came with XP pro up & ready to go. Got Win 7 Ultimate in yesterday & its now up & running. Read each & every post on the subject several times but it still leaves a noob like me wondering. I have not tackled the Vista Bois change but think I would need the v110 10? not even sure how to flash it.. downloaded the Darrin drivers compressed also but left it at that for now till I know how to tackle them in the propper manner also. I like win 7 on the cf-30 so far, just want to have the FN keys, touch calibration, battery cal, & other original options back up & running. I can do the fresh install of 7 again if need be - just wanted to ask if anyone can give a quick step by step guide for me that leaves little chance of me screwing up (Thats a tall order I know). Any help on an already beaten to death topic would be greatly appreciated :) Edit for Pic's - [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

well, maybe I should start small - which version or vista bios out of the 4 that come up on the panasonic site should I use. I picked the 2nd one down & got an error message that sounded pretty bad...

Here is a pretty good start for ya. This guide was developed through the hard work of several folks around here and is not too hard to follow but I do recommend reading the whole thing before you start. I think the same guide can be found here on NBR site- this one was just easier for me to find. :D

And yes, you do need to update the BIOS or it will not work right. More on that in the guide.

What kind of backlight keyboard? There are a couple different rubber backlight ones and you need the three connector model or it will not work correctly.

Thanks, got it worked out - turns out the 3rd connector had to be upsidedown so to speak (the gold connection facing up toward you) it now works but the FN keys still need the drivers. Im on that now. @TopCop1988 Thanks Sir - may I ask guy's can I do the vista BIOS install while running win 7 ? added some pic's to the first post....

In hind sight an SSD would have been the way to go. Thats a project to look forward too ;) I have a couple small issues to work out today. When I hit f12 to adjust the keyboard brightness it brings up another screen. The battery calibreaion is also on the agenda. when I was adding the drivers I skipped the video because it had a newer version, & I also skipped the modem & wlan. Going to reread the posts today to make sure they wont really need to be added too. Things seem to be going well...

Same thing I did too. After a few days W7 updated the video drivers.

Ok my mistake on the keyboard - holding FN before hitting f12 helps :confused2: Works Great that way... Went to panny's site & downloaded the battery calibration for vista - got the danger message again - saved the driver then opended it. Got the already installed message - so.... with Win 7 you can't get the minute type countdown for how much juice is remaining like in xp or am i barking up the wrong driver tree.... Btw I love the 30 with Win7 :D

Get that SSD like someone already mentioned. My oldest has the CF-30 and now my youngest wants one. They are pretty nice and run a loooong time on Battery. I think I'm going to get another CF-19 for myself.

I'll pick one up then - they seem to be highly recommended. I wonder though, could I then move the 750GB HDD to my cf-28 MK?

    Well let's see CF-30 SATA...CF-28 ATA...750GB...NO but it was a good idea :D
SSD prices have been dropping a lot and many have been coming with great rebates . Just keep an eye on this forum...someone always post deals on SSD's
