I received a pre-release of the finished RTM build and decided to take a chance and upgrade my MK1.
Before I upgraded I made sure my Toughbook was running Windows 7 with all the drivers and everything running well.
I loaded the expanded ISO file onto a clean USB flash drive, started setup.exe, and let it do it's thing unattended.
Came back a few hours later to the welcome screen. (HELLO BOB)
All in all I am pretty happy. It found and loaded all drivers except the Intel display adapter.
I updated that driver in Device Manager and it found the 945 Chipset Driver but video play back is choppy and not as smooth as when running under the old Windows XP.
GPS, Hot Keys and Touch Screen all work nicely.
As I use it more I will add to this thread any problems or surprise I may come across.
Please feel free add here your experiences, likes or dislikes if you choose to upgrade your Toughbook to Windows 10.
Any question asked I will try and answer.
Bob

I would like to here back on what you think of it. I am all set to do it but not sure which one to upgrade. ...19 or 30 ??
-
I had it on a CF52....It seemed ok....I had to tweak a few things to get them so I could find them easily...
Actually the free upgrade is for as many PC's as you want..You just have to request each upgrade individually. -
If you can get a version that is RTM (Release To Manufacturing) then it includes a volume license and you can install to multiple computers without keys or serial numbers. It should be automatically activated.
If you have problems activating, Microsoft gives you the key here.

Also, why do posters never check their products online? By including the employees dark shirt in all the screen close-ups it screwed up the video auto brightness settings so the screen ended up so washed out as to be almost invisible. Had they filled the viewfinder with the screen only, it would have pulled the brightness down to where the screen would become readable. I hope the guy lands a nice job with Microsoft for his commercial. -
Thanks for the input, Kardan. I will pass this along to our video guy. Maybe we can make some improvements.

The video may need some work but still a good job of getting the point across.

Inspired by this thread, I installed 64 bit build 10240 to CF-30 mk3. Clean install. No upgrade. All drivers were there except hotkey driver and Panasonic Misc driver. Used Windows 7 64 bit for those 2 drivers, and I am impressed that it was that easy. Actually feels pretty fast. First snag I ran into was no drivers for my printer yet (Canon ImageClass D480). Might try Win7 64 drivers tomorrow.

After using Windows 10 PRO for a few days it's a keeper.
The Intel 945 Chipset Driver is working as well as can be expected.
Full HD videos run smoothly when played with VLC.
Everything else is fast and smooth.
Touch screen, Hot keys, and GPS are perfect.

Solved my Canon ImageCLASS D480 printer issue by installing Win8.1 driver from Canon. Works great!
Second problem: SDHC reader doesn't work. (Had this problem with Win8 64bit too.) Tried 64bit Win8 driver for CF-31 MK4. It is Realtek, not Ricoh, so it didn't work. The MK3 and lower MKs only have Bluetooth driver for 64bit Win8. So I have not yet found a driver for the SDHC reader. For the time being, I am just using a PC Card SDHC reader. Has anyone else come across a working 64bit driver? -
theoak2...please tell us what exact model you are running?
-
Sorry Shawn. I should have known to put that info.
model: CF-30KAPAX2M -
Adding to pile of ToughBooks that work with Windows 10 Pro:
CF-31 MK1 specifically CF-31ACBJNDM.
Everything worked after clean install of 64bit build 10240, except:
Panasonic Misc driver and Hotkey driver
These were easily installed with 64bit Windows 7 drivers from util folder that I copied to an SD card before installing Win10.
Gobi 2000 also had to be installed using Panasonic CSA software. It installed the drivers for the Gobi2000, but the application itself would not run. I did not try compatibility mode. I uninstalled CSA (which left the drivers behind) and just installed the Verizon VZAccess Manager. Even the SDHC reader works! It has installed exactly the same SDHC driver as the CF-30 MK3. But it works in CF-31, and not in CF-30 Go figure!!adamwest436 likes this. -
Hi all
Install on mine went well I have a pair, CF-30CCQ90BM MK 1 CF-30FAS89AM MK2 On the C Model the Sierra Wireless doesn't work, but I don't need it. On the F Model I have a dual touchscreen/digitizer which worked in Win 7 fine, but in Win 10 will only see it as a touchscreen I can live with that for now.
I also have a pair of CF 18 Ns, where the install was not so easy but finally work.(see my other threads)
Over all Win 10 is good, but archaic hidden menus, privacy and drivers issues make it hard to recommend 100% maybe 75% for now.Toyo likes this. -
