Thanks to the posts by rck and johnlowe, I was able to install W7 on a friend's CF-18 Mk2 (DHB22KA model) with full functionality. For the benefit of my friend, I put together a how-to, also listing the specific drivers and their sources, in a printer-friendly format. I also packaged up the specific drivers used in a zip. All are attached here, for the benefit of others.

This is almost entirely a mash-up of rck and johnlowe's excellent posts, just amended with a couple of expansions on how-to for Touchbook newbies like me. All credit goes to those guys and those whom they credited, along with my thanks. As far as I can tell, than makes Mk1, Mk2, Mk3 and Mk4 models that people on this forum say they have built successfully using these.

Since end-of-life software tends to disappear from vendors' servers after a decade or so, I also packaged up the drivers that worked for me, and will attach them here as a zip. Link to zip file on Google Drive

Hope this will be helpful to someone else. My thanks again to rck and the rest of you all, for taking time to document what you found.

If you find any errors, please email or PM me, would you? Thanks.

Now, I'm off to order a 2.5" mSATA-to-IDE sled and a Crucial 550 mSATA SSD, to upgrade the system. (Since I didn't do that first, I'll get to do this install all over again...yay.)

    Welcome to the forum.

Can you be the first to give before asking a question. Good show.

J'd...Blair does this need to stickied somewhere?...

Glad it might be of some help. Just because I didn't ask any questions doesn't mean I didn't put the forum, and Google in general, under severe strain, while I was looking for answers!

I have another of the same model sitting on my desk now. Thinking about trying out my first linux install. Time to start reading again....

Did you get my email? Care not about selling a CF-19 but I think it would be better overall. See my email.

    Thanks,

    J'd

Thanks diver864 for all the hard work on this one.

I have a CF-18 mark4 at home, and am not waiting for my harddisk caddy to arrive (after 30 days waiting from an e-bay seller !) - Anyhow, do you folks know if this procedure for the mk2 also works on the MK4 ? (maybe a stupid question, but i ask it anyway)
