That is one reason Windows 7 is so large. It totes a lot of stuff with it.

    OK, here is my method.

Run BIOs and turn off GPS, if so equipped.

Install Windows 7 Pro or above. I used x64.

If you have GPS, install the GPS Patch, if needed.

Let Windows do all the updates that it wants.

    Install Hotkeys Driver

Install Intel Extended Thermal Model Driver

Install Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG, the one that Windows installed for me worked, but was not the latest.

Install Marvell Yukon 88E8055 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller x64

If you have Bluetooth, install a Bluetooth stack, I like Toshiba.

If you have a Fingerprint Reader, install a program to work with it.

That's it. Done. Everything I can find so far works.

Can the cf 30 mk2 support 64 bit Windows 7? I tried a 64 bit of Windows xp and it just BSOD on boot up.

But to answer your question, yes, I am running Windows 7 x64 right now on a CF-30 Mk2.

As to the question of whether it will support more then 4GB of RAM... well hang around, I am sure that some Yo-Yo will try it even though Intel and Panasonic Engineers say, "NO!"

EDIT: It does support 8GB of RAM. See link in my signature.

This is how I went about my CF-30 MK2 upgrade to W7. To make life easy I got a CF-30MK3 "parts" machine on eBay and used a MK3 W7 recovery disc to load W7 onto a new Crucial M500 240 GB SSD. Since my unit is a non-touch model, I did not need the MK2 Vista video driver to get the hotkeys working properly; the MK3 W7 hotkeys driver worked fine for me in conjunction with the latest W7 driver (available via Windows Update) for the Intel 955GMA graphics that the MK2 has. And just like Toughbook, I too manage 25 SECOND boot time with an SSD!

I installed Windows 7 64bit in my CF30MK2 & MK3 and other toughbooks. Everything works, all Fn Keys are perfectly working. Supporting 8gb of RAM without any problem. Sold more than 200 units of CF30 64bit without any complaints. Tested by customers and not just me.
