    Hello fellow members.......

Took the time to download the Windows 8 Release preview. By the looks of this one, it is set up to have a purchased license installed once the final release comes out. I have played with the Windows 8 stuff for a while and installed this onto my Hybrid drive. Nice!!!! As most know. I am an 18 and 19 guy, but have used the 29 and 30. The nice thing about Win 8 is it is supposed to be "Tablet" oriented. So, the 18's and 19's are perfect. Most all of the drivers on the Pani site for the MKiV, Win7 64 Bit installed on my 19. There are a few quirks, hopefully they will be ironed out, but, I am impressed. As some of you know, I do a lot of Adobe CS stuff which can jam the system. So far, with everything on the 64 Bit side and 8Gig of RAM, no problemo's as Arnold would say. GOBI up, WAN, LAN, all networking up! Some issues with buttons and still working on that. More to follow...... HTB

    Microsoft recommends:
    • 1 GHz or faster processor
    • 1 GB RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
    • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20GB (64-bit)
    • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

There are several more "fine print" requirements and recommendations peppered throughout Microsoft's post (italicized portions straight from Microsoft):

Loaded it up on my dell xfr with an ssd and it took between 3-4 seconds from post to a usable windows... Thats cool...
    Interface, not cool..
Seems nice and light.. Needs some work though, and it gets released to manufacturers next month, so should be hitting technet same time.

I am waiting on the student release and hope that it is Win8Pro. So far it has been anounced that they intend to do this again like they did with Win7, but I can not find a date and a price.

I have heard it is being RTM first, then released to public shortly thereafter. If you buy a version of 7 now, till an unknown date, they will have a small price upgrade to 8. Right now, I am finding it hard to switch back to 7, but I have to sometimes.

Hmm nice to hear/read that it is going quite well.
I'm not sure if I will go over to the W8 side. Perhaps I find a second caddy with a small drive for my 19mk5, just to test W8 and see how it goes, before I do it with my work disk.
this way I can swap quite quick the drives when I want to test some more and back again to w7 when I need to get some work done.

Yes..... I pretty much set it up the way my Win7 work disk is! It has some cool stuff, really fast... Just want to see what kind of versions they will have, ie...Ultimate, enterprise, pro, home, student. etc.... Extra caddy is always nice. I have my primary and two others. 1 XP Pro Tablet and the other Win 8. Win 7 on SSD is my work one!!! Just fun to change. Next step is taking my MK IV back to Win 3.X, 95, 98, Millennium! LOL, Just kidding!!!!!
