Have been a Toughbook user for a number of years and just think they are the greatest but have never venture to far in to the workings

recently a friend purchased a second hand one with windows 8 installed and it had boot issues
In its former life it had windows vista business installed code is still on the bottom and I am not sure I suspect it may have been upgraded to win 7 and then to win 8. to resolve the boot issues before I found the fabulous site it had a clean install of windows 8 installed that was a mammoth task in its self but we got there and windows 8 appears to be running happily windows updates have been done the only issue I appear to have is the tablet buttons don't work

that is the soft keyboard does not come up when pushed
the screen rotation does not work (screen can be rotated in the control panel area)
    and the lock button

all else appears good, brightness up down, wireless on off with hard switch

having spent a couple of hours going through this site I am still unsure of what I need to do to resolve the driver issue and I dont want to make more work so I would appreciate some assistance to resolve the issues
    Here is what I have
In device manager in other devices there are 4 items that appear to require drivers
1 PCI Data Acquisition & Signal processing if I try to up date it can't find the driver if i double click on it says drivers for this device not installed (code 28)
    2 unknown device
    3 unknown device
    4 unknown device

I have had a look at the Panasonic site and am totally confused as to which drivers I require and how to install them I see the order is important

I would relay appreciate some help from the very knowledgeable people on this site

once I get this one going I have a CF18 which is on xp and I had been told that it could not run windows 7 I would like to get it up to seven it also needs a touch pad replaced it has had that much work it is worn through and it looks like i will find some parts on this site

Thanking you all in advance for such a great site:hi2::thumbsup:

Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook Forum

Well for starters it sounds like you have not installed the hotkey drivers , Tablet Buttons Manager Driver , Panasonic Misc Driver , Hotkey Settings Application and Hotkey Appendix Application. You will need to install them from device manager and then click update driver and look for the folder "Util" ...this is where the drivers should be. I have not tried W8 but in XP and W7 this is where there are...Good luck

Personally I would go back to W7... W8 is just a pig with lipstick!

You have a 'util' folder if you use a restore disc, if you hand bomb the drivers and programs the folder is called 'util2'. The drivers should be in a folder in the 'drivers' folder in the 'Util2' folder. The programs are in separate folders in the 'Util2' folder.

    c:\util2
    c:\util2\drivers

I do not have a CF-19 but I think the Misc drivers is labeled newmisc. I think the meitbam is for the front buttons but am not sure on that.

I don't have a restore disc, I am realizing that it is a problem, I am thinking that once I get these issues sorted I will burn a repair disc as the first job.and I think I have to agree with toughbook but it was not my choice anyway back to my problem
I think I have found the drivers I require on the panasonic site they are in folders named like
    PanasonicCommonComponents_v2.00l11_19K_19L_W732_ss6946
    TabletButtonDriver_v2.1.1000.0_19K_19L_W732_ss6977
    TabletButtonMgrApp_v2.02l10_19K_19L_W732_ss6988

and I am now unsure of how I am ment to get them installed onto the machine
can any one give me some assistance in getting them installed

    thanks
