    Hi there!

I recently bought a CF-29 at auction and loaded it with Windows XP however Windows does not detect that there is any audio device. It shows all hardware has its driver...there is just no audio hardware in the list. It seems the USB port is non-functional as well. It shows up in device manager but it doesn't seem to be providing power to my flash drive. I'm not sure if these two could be related but I thought it'd be worth mentioning.

My model number is CF-29EWPGRKM...I was unable to find specific drivers for this model. The panasonic sites only show drivers for the E3 or ET models. I just used the ET drivers.

    Thanks for any assistance!

EDIT: Oh, I did try to manually load drivers using the hardware wizard, however when it loads the driver it says that the device cannot start.

First, have you checked in the BIOS to verify that both devices are not disabled?

Second - what DOES show up in device manager? Is there an audio adapter? Is there an unknown device or yellow sign indicating some error?

Windows tells you about it... it may not know what it's talking about, but it will tell you all about it anyways...

I checked the BIOS but it doesn't have any way to disable sound. There is only an option for USB legacy support which is enabled.

The device manager has no yellow signs or unknown devices except when I try to manually install the device. It then has a yellow sign indicating the device could not start. If I uninstall my manually installed driver then Windows shows no audio device at all.

Under the section Sound, Video and game controllers there are audio codecs, legacy audio drivers, legacy video capture devices, media control devices, and video codecs.

If I go to the sounds and audio device section under control panel it shows "No audio device" under the volume tab.

Get in touch with the seller ,to either exchange or refund your money
Sounds like m/b issues that are not worth the hassle as no sound and either no 5v usb or data
The bios does not have sound listed, thats normal

Thanks for the reply...looks like I'm stuck as it was an 'as is' sale at a local auction house.

I've also noticed that the backlight fails to come back on after coming out of stand by...could this be motherboard related as well or is it just Windows not handling stand by correctly? Or maybe an inverter issue?

Any or all of the above, I'm afraid. As for the original issue, I was kindof leaning towards the same contusion as Alex just suggested; sounds like you have a dead 5V supply somewhere on the MB. I just wanted to rule out all the obvious possiblities first. :( Hope you got it cheap enuf that it's worth tinkering with some...

Of course, there is always the 1-2-3 stick solution...

As a last ditch effort do a fresh install of windows after formatting the hard drive. Then the drivers.
Install the chipset driver first, then video, and then sound.
The rest of the drivers in any order after that.
I have found that if the chipset drivers are not correct them the rest of the devices won't load right.

You can also get with Ohlip to see if you might just have a bad fuse or two. Could buy you some time until you can get a new motherboard if that ends up being bad.
