I am thinking of upgrading the wireless card to a less power consuming dual band one. I am with CF-52 mk1.

Will it work or there is a BIOS whitelist? If it works, can you give any suggestions which is the best replacement brand/model?

Here is the card I installed into my CF-52 more than one year ago:
    Ubiquiti SR71-E PC-Express Card 802.11a/b/g/n 400mW
Amazon is where I ordered mine, but they are now out of stock (NewEgg also).
The bay has some but a little pricey: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Ubiquiti-UBNT-SR71-15-500mW-27dBm-5GHz-802-11a-n-MiniPCI-Adapter-300Mbps/262599508201?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIC.MBE&ao=2&asc=20131003132420&meid=4afeae262fdc4ef19a4d1b4753dc5d1a&pid=100005&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=141858322903
Note, I do NOT use windows os, so do not know if this card will work for you.
    Good luck
