Hi all, I'm considering ordering some parts from http://www.onlinecomponents.com , I've tried emailing their customer support desk asking for a estimate of shipping costs to the UK but I haven't received an answer. Their web site seems to state that international shipping will added to the invoice after the order has been placed, seems like a rip off to me?
Does anybody here use them or had dealings with them are they a reputable company???
Just asking the trusted members here.
Mods please delete/move this if totally wrong.

Since you're in the UK, you might be better off (depending on how much you're ordering) with Farnell UK, give them an email.

The problem is no one in the UK seems to stock one of the components (unless we order a minimum of 1000), there are few suppliers in the states that list the item, last time we ordered some we got right royally shafted with shipping cost.
I've searched Farnell's, RS Components and a few other suppliers here in the UK but ended up ordering from the US.
The problem part is a PCB header socket part no: Amp/Tyco 1-776228-1 -

It sounds like you should ask an NBR member who lives in the states to order the part for you and then ship it to you in the UK., maybe start a thread in off topic.

Mouser don't stock the *exact* product, as I checked, the one with the p/n 1-776228-1 had a minimum order of 140, and the only similar component (which still might be different) was 1-776228 which costed £10.something.
This really brings back the joys of sourcing the components to upgrade ram in a palmpilot. Sometimes I wonder how big manufacturers can keep the components coming in. -
The problem in the UK is we can design world class kit but always seem to build it abroad, hence only half the bits seem to be available here or you have to buy in bulk.
I can buy the matching plugs and contacts here but not the socket assembly, looks like I'II be bent over the desk...for shipping again....
Your advice please, not panasonic related, sorry
