Note sure who's used this, but I found a freeware non-commercial software product called 'mwconn' which is a 3G wireless modem control program that can be used instead of the standard (usually knobbled) ISP-supplied software that's included with 3G modems when running Windows XP, etc.. My modem (supplied by Virgin - they use Optus in Australia) has customised standard software with most of the options blocked out. grrr.

I have been trying 'mwconn' on my CF-28 and it certainly talks to the e169 I have but can't set up a connection properly - giving an error code despite the APN being correct. I'll be trying it out with with the CF-18 while I'm away this week.

The software is at http://www.mwconn.com if you want to have a look and see what you think.

    Craig.
