I would like to add a new battery for my CF-30 and I'd like to add the second battery also. Does the second battery go where the DVD drive is? My model is Cf-30FTSAZAM. I know part number of orginal battery but not for backup.

Try this on: Panasonic Toughbook CF-30 / CF-31 CF-VZSU1430U
media bay battery cf | eBay
Lot's of different pricing from that above listing.

Pretty sad when some of those sellers are asking more for the media bay battery than what I have in the computer itself
-
That's because they sold a lot less media bay batteries than they sold cf30's..
Media bay battery is nice, but it doesn't seem to last that long...I need to time it and see. Maybe this afternoon.
If you don't have the official cf30 battery with the bumpout, CF-VZSU46U I suggest getting one of those as they have a larger capacity. -

I get just about 2 hours from my battery. Almost 7 hours total with both of them.

I just did a battery info and my media battery only shows about 25% of rated capacity when fully charged.
I'll try a battery recal for just the media battery, but I don't expect any change. Mine probably runs 45 minutes. -
If you just wait and keep an eye out... You can get deals. About 2 years ago a bunch came on fleabay... I was buying them for $11-$20 each. Some of the battery innards needs to be swapped. I think the interior battery is the same as a CF-52... If I recall correctly.

Inside it's the same as a CF72.......Made from Unobtainium....
I did a battery recal on mine..I must admit I always thought the Battery recal was a waste of time.
I was wrong.
When I started it had a capacity of 9,000Mwh out of 36,000Mwh when new.
After recal it has 36,000Mwh again....
It took somewhere between 3 and 4 hours for the media bay battery. -
