These darn batterys are a real pain
The worst capacity of any thoughbooks "I think"
I have 2 that do the same thing
Look in the drivers downloads area for the battery refresh utility for your model
And try inserting the battery again after a while

    Ok Its a mk-3 then
    I found the refresh utility
for the mk1 and mk2 only, but the download site has nothing for the mk3
I will check on my mk5 how to do it,before hunting on more sites
Do you have both the reference manual and the operating manual for your model and have looked up the proceadure on refresh?

My mk-5 refresh utility is in the bios under the last tab
Look and see if yours is as well as the newer models run from the bios
