Modly,
I want to mount the bios upgrade (12) for my cf (MKIII).
I see that you put a new on your website.
Do i follow the same instructions as the old update?
I don't see any autoexec.bat on it, what must i do whit this on the bootable diskette?
Thanks

on who's website?
-
I threw all the major BIOS updates on my server...
In all honesty, I have no idea, and right now I've had too many beers to give competent instructions...
Give me an hour or two though, and I'll look it up. -
Hell, Modly
I guess you are sober by now ??
Did you look at the updates?
If not, her in Belgium we have excellent beers
You can always come over and taste wan of them.
Cheers -
I believe what you'll need to do is to format a boot disk and then copy the BIOS update to that then boot from the boot disk. That's how I have done mine in the past.
Others may have alternate ways... -
I did look into it briefly. I think if you use the autoexec.bat file from the .11 update, it should work. That's my only guess though, because the .12 update did not contain a readme. I also don't have a Mark 3 book either, so I can't test it.
If using the older autoexec.bat file doesn't work, let me know, and I'll dig into it further.
And yes, you guys do have some good beers. I'll try any beer at least once, and I've drank a few Belgian beers twice. -
I have a CF28PRJGADM, bios version V2.01L13 . Currently I have a 512 meg of memory. Can I upgrade this bios and replace my additional 256 meg add-on with a 512 meg? The
I guess I am confused by the mark #. Is mk 1 a 600 mhz, mk2 an 800 (like mine) and mk3 a 1.0ghz CPU?
BTW- using the ORCA Logic PC Wizard tool, in the Processor information ,the Mainboard upgradeability shows a supported speed of cpu of 800 Mhz(or more). Does that indicate the motherboard could handle a faster cpu (provided there were a way to replace it)?
Thanks,
Ken -
I think you've got the latest BIOS... it's the same as mine anyways.
I can accept a 512MB chip, but I'd hate to say "Yes, yours can". If you can score a deal on one, try it out and it may work. -
I have yet to make a 512mb work in an 800... I know some have though.
Modly... Thanks for putting up your drivers in your siggy! -
the only ones which i know work are the kingston ram and micron,
i'll give you the model numbers in abit,
just go by them and you cant go wrong,
think i have already posted them some where on the forum... -
You did because I used them to order my RAM...
-
Thanks, Modly, for the info.
And many belated thanks for posting the CF-28 data on your server. It's come in handy, and led me to this excellent forum. -
No problem! I'm trying to think of any other drivers we use that would be of use on my server. I'm thinking of the atheros drivers, but I couldn't think of any others.
I'd still like to figure out how to make my own BIOS. -
Modly... I just ran across that the other day. I Googled "Laptop hacks" and found an entry on a website somewhere that dealt with making your own BIOS. I just spent 10 minutes trying to find it. I thought I bookmarked it but I guess I didn't. The info is out there. There was a huge warning about, "DON'T TRY THIS" all over the start of it. They dealt mostly with hacking the boot screen but also dealt with other stuff and how to do it.
I'll try to find it again and post back. -
Modly...
ran across this on BIOS modification - made it to Hack-A-Day.

If I tried it I would end up with a fancy boat anchor... but others are probably more adventuresome. Don't kow if it goes into it as deeply as you would like.
EDIT
And this from sourceforge..
http://awdbedit.sourceforge.net/ -
now THAT would be an ultimate toughbook.. one sporting the logo of your choice!
