hey guys i am new to the forum so i have a lot of questions and is very excited that i am finally going to get some answers. i brought a parts computer from ebay about 1 month ago a cf-28 1ghz. i wanted to swap the mother board into my 600 mhz cf-28. as i was taking apart the monitor i noticed that the second monitor plug is broken. the metal shelding is gone and the pins is bent. most of the plug is hanging loose. lookes someone tried to force something in too hard. i want to know is there anyways to fix it? and waht i have to do. thanks in advance.

First - Welcome to the forum!

Well, the 1000mhz MB into the 600mhz case has been pretty much proven unfeasable by some of our best hacking minds; as for the plugs on the monitor, we've also had some issues with compatibility with the 600mhz LCD on 1000mhz MB.

It sounds to me as if you may have gotten someone else's gutted junker unit; in which case the MB may be toast, or might have been robbed for parts to make another one.
These units are pretty complex... if this is your first one, you may not know enough about them to even be able to tell if it works at all.

I don't know your level of technical expertise, but if you can verify the MB is functional, you will be much better off trying to rebuild the 1000mhz & using whatever you need from the 600mhz to do that.

Post us a good resolution pic of the damage to the connector on the 1000mhz MB (don't use a camera phone; we need "macro" mode detail from a decent digital camera) and I'll tell you if I think it can be repaired.

    mnem
    Good luck with that.

Mmmhmmm... I think it was a 4 letter word that happened to be hiding between those two letters... I'm trying to think of an electronics term that HAS a 4-letter word in it...
