    My card is : ENGENIUS EMP-8602+S 802.11a/b/g 600mW

    iwconfig outputs:

    wlan0 IEEE 802.11abg ESSID :eek:ff/any
    Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=20 dBm
Retry long limit:7 RTS thr :eek:ff Fragment thr :eek:ff
    Encryption key :eek:ff
    Power Management :eek:ff

    iwconfig wlan0 txpower 600mw
Error for wireless request "Set Tx Power" (8B26) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.

    i have tried:
    iwpriv wlan0 highpower 1
it puts out : wlan0 no private ioctls.

my kernel is 2.6.32-21-generic that's the latest one.

Do anyone know how i fix that ?

I believe you have to set the max txpower in dB, NOT mw. The WiFi hack forums have a chart that will translate; I don't know right now where to look.

Be mindful that in most cases you are STILL not going to see actual TX power at that level unless you actually need it; the radio in your card manages the TX power based on link quality and should only emit as much as is needed to maintain a stable link.

It is not like playing around on Children's Band radio where the more power the better and to frakk with how many people you p!ss off; excessive power in a data link causes distortion of the signal, which means dropped/malformed packets.

I have tried that, it refuses to accept anything over 20 dbm ( 100 mw )
    27 dbm is 500 mW.

Then it sounds to me like your driver/wifi client doesn't fully support the 8602+S featureset; you may find some free-range *NIX drivers that do if you scour the Wardriving wikis and eGroups...
