Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook forum.
You say you install the drivers but did you also install the finger print software ? -

Yeah both drivers and software were installed

The software you got from panasonic I think was for XP or Vista ? It will not work or at least it did not work for me. You need the newer version for W7. This is what I had to do on my CF-30 and CF-51.

I found this post back a few years ago...might help you

Did you use driver bundle from Pana? Is there a pinstall file in the fingerprint reader section of Pana drivers?
Always set bios to defaults with hardware change and do power pull reset. -

Upgrade to Win10. There is a native support for FPR
      -
 Very interesting.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe there is a hardware issue. Bad flat cable? Bad FP reader module?
Is the FPR ENABLED in the BIOS?
Tonight after work, if I am not exhausted to the point of getting silly, I will install the FPR software on my CF 19 and see if it works. It is a mk4 with Win7. It is the same module as a mk2. -

Is your driver like mine?
      -

It is the Windows 7 drivers from Panasonic that I down loaded , yeah I've installed the pinstall that came with the Panasonic drivers
It's doesn't show any biometric strip in my device manager -

The FPR will show up as a "BIOMETRIC device."
Is there any yellow flags in the Device manager? -

It's not showing up at all and no yellow flags against anything cheers
 -

Then either it is disabled in the BIOS or you have a hardware problem.
 -

Okay I will just order a new pcb for it , unless you can suggest anywhere that can fix it
Cheers for your help everyone -

Where are you located?
I may have an extra Cf 19 finger print reader.
Don't buy anything until I get home and investigate my CF19 with FPR.Last edited: Jun 28, 2016 -

This is what it said when I installed mine too...word for word. You are not using the right driver and software.Last edited: Jun 28, 2016 -

Blair,
Shouldn't BIOMETRIC device show up in device manager or at least a yellow flag item? -

I'm in Inverness , that would be fab -

The way I see it if it shows up in the bios then it must be installed right . I am going to check one of my CF-51 or 52 to seeLast edited: Jun 28, 2016 -

Did you manage to have a look as I need to sort asap cheers -

I got sick after work. I am feeling a little better now.
Let's start over from the beginning.
What version of Win7 are you using? 32 or 64 bit?
Please post a photo of the fingerprint reader showing in the BIOS.
Please post a photo of device manager.
What is the version of the Fingerprint software you installed?
Can you post a link to the exact software package you installed?
Here is a post from another member:
THanks! GOt it working. THe problem was, that I needed to change the CURRENT (2013) driver for the ancient (2007) one. Apparently Microsoft and the manufacturer had a current driver that had all sorts of extensions built in to win7, but is worthless because the software itself is too old.
My CF19 mk4 needs a password set in the BIOS for the Fingerprint reader to work. Can you set any fingerprint reader options in the BIOS?
Here is a link to a current Win7 driver package for a CF31. You will need to open the file with 7zip, then install the extracted program on the CF19 mk2. The extracted package is for 32 and 64 bit.

FYI I installed fingerprint reader on my CF-53 just now. (Linux Mint)
If you have a Linux USB, run it live and you can do in terminal (install not necessary):
This returns for my CF-53:Code:lsusb
ID 147e:2016
If "lsusb" doesn't see it the device is broken or installed wrong.onirakkiss and Shawn like this. -

im running 64 bit windows 7 , ive tried booth 2009 version and the 2012 version of protector suite
i requets a password on boot up as shown in pic and yeah i can select option in the bios for it -

Can't upload any pics , do you have an email I can send them to cheers
 -

As shown in pic... I do not see any photos.

I started a private conversation with an email address.

tried to install that driver just comes up saying machine doesnt support ?

That driver is an archive. Use a utility called 7z to extract the real driver package. Then install the extracted program.

Just done that and not made any difference , I'm starting to think the reader I got is faulty , shawn I have replied to your conversation cheers
 -
