hi, i just bought my first toughbook, an 800mhz cf28. it has the black rubber keyboard which i was told is backlit, however it isn't lit. is there a driver i have to install to control this? ( i have searched for one but couldn't find any mention of it) or is my keyboard faulty?

I dont believe there is any driver, did you try holding the function key and pressing F12, that adjusts the level of brightness maybe its just really dim. I think it has 4 levels of brightness. If this does not help you may want to check the connections for the keyboard ribbons to make sure they are seated propery. The rubber backlit ones have two ribbons that plug into the MOBO. Does the keyboard work properly otherwise?

The F11 key was some kind of emergency key for police use apparently according to several posts around here. I work for a utility and they have the same functionality built into the software we use, oddly enough on the F11 key too.
