I purchased a EDUP pcmcia memory card reader for my cf-28 and when I plug in in with or without a memory card in it, it makes a ding sound like the computer recognizes it but does not install or I am unable to view the pictures on the memory card. What am I doing wrong or how do I get it to work? Thanks

Have you searched for an updated driver for the Card?

Have you enabled it in the BIOS?

If you have a nice up to date O/S like xp it should be fine
Are you running w98se by chance,as it will need extra drivers for sure

I am running xp and I believe it is enabled in the BIOS, one thing I read is it will only read cards under 2GB, and my card is 4GB. Could that be the problem? When I have the reader installed in the pcmcia slot with the memory card inserted, how should I be able to access the pictures on the memory card? What steps should I follow? thanks

All cards over 2GB are considered HC( high capacity) and there can be issues reading them because of your reader

If a compatible card is inserted, it will act just like a removable drive like a floppy and it will show up in my computer under removable drives

You will be able to click on the drive and open up ,usually several folders before you get to individual pictures, if it’s a camera card

Thanks, I will try it with a 2GB card tomorrow and see if that solves the problem.
