for those with more experience than me would there be a significant benefit in upgrading? - I have a chance to get a Mk4 at a reasonable price.
Not much chance of the CF30s on my horizon in the UK for a while yet so the Mk 4 might be a nice upgrade.

For the 1.6GHz CPU and more importantly for the graphics chipset a resounding yes. In my corner (Linux) the older Intel chipsets are becoming more of an issue with the newer upgrades. I would assume there would be a proportionate set of issues in the W7 arena.

As the Jeff said, the Mk4-5 is much easier to run Win7 on then the Mk1-3.

if it is one that can be upgraded to a 2GB ram, definitely. but if not still have the slot for sd ram, graphics. I'd say at least a 10% improvement in speed and if it doesn't have a ts you can upgrade that as well with outright swap. Yeah, it isn't a cf-30 but it's a TOUGH BOOK! nuff said...........Driller

Mark 1's will NEVER have the touchscreen fail like all the other mark CF-29's...

Good point. Keep the Mark 1 for when the screen fails.

If you can find the Non Touch...256 on board it makes up into a sweet unit by adding a TS Panel or swapping in the whole screen. As Driller said and something I forgot that SD reader is a bonus.
