    12.1 is the screen size..
    It is 4:3 ratio..
They make panels in this size. ..Ebay...
They are 4 wire with a usb board to drive them.

The problem I see are finding a usb inside the laptop....Not that difficult.
Then the remaining problem is if the lid has enough room to fit a touch panel inside..

That thing is a brute to disassemble,an idea would be to use the top half of a T-7 or T-8. Then you have the touchscreen and if you buy a junker you can try to disassemble it first.

The top have is not bad to get apart, the bottom is a bugger.

so it seems to be senseless or just for a hard core screwer
and you need a contact in the base of the w8 for the usb connection of the touch panel?
sometimes there is a t8 in ebay for about 40 euros
but really f....... condition with a not known bios codeword
so i didn t buy it
the t8 and the w8 seems to have the same size nearly the same hardware
differences are the t8 has a touch panel and the w8 a dvdplayer

So now I know what I am..I'm a hard core screwer! Where can I get the T shirt?
Women have another name for them.........

I am not that familiar with the W8 or T8 series .... :vbcool:
I am guessing you are not as tech savvy as I am..I suggest you buy one that already has the touchscreen. I would not let a BIOS password concern you if the unit was cheap enough and the wifi was turned on.
For ME, I would add the top of a T8 to the W8, but I am very good mechanically.......AND I like a challenge.

it would be much easier if panasonic have hardware maintainance manuals like this one so i think it isn t worth to change anything on the w8 ;)

For some models they do have very detailed manuals.
