    hi all,

i am having a problem, and now it has come to the point where i have had enough.
i have a cf-18 mk2, with the stock wireless internet card in it.
85% of the time, the card works perfectly.
but randomly and without warning, the card will stop working, and only a system restart will fix it.
i will be in the middle of browsing the internet or what ever, and then the card will suddenly be disabled (in windows) or unable to be turned on (in the intel software)
i have tried reinstalling drivers, attempted to update the drivers, and used both the garbage intel software and the slightly better windows software to control the card, with the issue hapening on both.
it happens completely without warning too.

    please help

Sounds like a hardware issue. Have you tried another WiFi card?

The older Intel cards did this... In and out.... That's why I replace them with Engenous cards. Plus you more than double your SSID capture!

nah not yet, havent had a chance.
its a really random problem though and it works fine most of the time, so i would think that a seating issue would it result in it rarely working...

    oh ok. bloody intel.
how do i acquire one of the engenous cards? what model(s)? are they a straight swap?

TB will chime in here with his source...He generally has a line on the best price, and they are the standard when it comes to wifi cards. I am thinking about experimenting with the N card instead of the 600 to see how it performs with my N network.

There is quite an extensive thread on the 2200BG in the wireless section
    Here

The 2200BG card is so much better than the older 2100B ,that I have not really found it to be a bad wireless adapter
But with any wireless components they do fail after time
In the last year I have replaced a dsl modem ,and just last week I replaced a wireless router that had disconnecting issues
Both of these were less than 5 years old

THIS is the best place I have found... Best price too! They usually run $50 plus shipping. It is a direct swap. Just make sure you replace whatever you take out... I usually run Kapton tape over the top of mine as a little insulation and to make sure the u.fl leads never pop off. But you can use what was on the old one most likely.
